Central West NSW Youth Transition Services would like to welcome all Hospitality enthusiasts to the second New South Wales
The Whirlpool Cooking and Barista Challenge is the brainchild of chef / hospitality teachers Matthew Jago and Adrian Singline from Devonport in Tasmania.
Recognised nationally in 2007 by the Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations as an example of Best Practice for an Adopt A School project, the competition has grown and in 2010 Central West NSW Youth Transition Services, DET school in Region 19 , CEO Bathurst are pleased to partner with Whirlpool Home Appliances and other sponsors to bring the Cooking and Barista Challenge to NSW.
The competition is unique in that it incorporates both, high school Food Technology and Hospitality students from Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 and trade chefs and apprentices. The aim of the event is to expose talented and interested high school students to the fast paced world of the Hospitality industry.
The competition consists of high school team (4) and individual categories as well as 1st & 2nd year apprentice chef, 3rd and 4th year apprentice chef and trade qualified chef categories. Front of House enthusiasts are catered for in a Barista competition with both school and Trade categories.
Patisserie enthusiasts will be impressed by the Trade/Schools static gateau display with categories for school and trade in novice and open sections.
